Abstract

Chronic kidney disease currently represents a public health problem in Mexico and worldwide. People with kidney disease present a reduced capacity to eliminate certain mineral, such as phosphorus; therefore, the levels of this mineral increase and may bring with several complications, such as higher risk of cardiovascular disease, bone pain, fractures, and evean death. Fort this reason, adequate medical and nutritional treatment us essential in patients who develop hyperphosphatemia, including the use of phosphate binders, following nutritional recommendations, implementation of culinary techniques, and avoiding the consumption of processed foods, since it is well known that they contain phosphorus based additives.
